Though Venus is the second closest planet to the Sun after mercury. The surface of Venus has an average temperature of 462 digree Celsius, no matter where you go on the planet. thus it is hottest planet in the solar system. Venus has a very thick atmosphere with mainly consists of carbon dioxide. This CO2 rich atmosphere generates a strong greenhouse effect that enormously raises the surface temperature masking it the hottest planet.
